How the Mangroves Provided for the Ubin Orang Pulau

Singapore has lost quite a significant amount of her mangrove forests in the face of violent urban redevelopment. However, growing up I remembered traversing through these green pockets with my mom and aunt as we foraged for lokan, or mangrove clams. I also learned that mangroves offered much more for the Orang Pulau, which makes it an integral part of our culture and identity.
